About the Student Body Government

During the 2005/06 academic year the student council entered a new phase, new government, and new goals. That year the student council transferred to become the Student Body Government in TAMUQ. SBG includes fifteen members, three representatives from each class, two representatives from 2nd year seniors and higher classes, and one president. Under this Government the SBG constitution was created and approved, including the SBG purpose, requirements to join SBG, and the methods for communication with the administration, students, and organizations.

Student Body Government in TAMUQ consists of very fine active members that meet on a regular basis to look after the students' needs and help them solve problems

New Student Orientation The SBG is currently working with the Department of Student Affairs in order to arrange an outstanding orientation prgram for this year.
It is worth noting that the orientation this year will be different, as this will be the first orientation to be held in the new engineering building.

Aggie Welcome Reception The Student Body Government, along with the Admissions and Records Department, held the first Annual Aggie Welcom Reception. The event was held for the newly admitted students, in order to increase recruitment into TAMUQ.
Dean Weichold and the Program Coordinators were among the welcoming crew.

Officers Elected for 2007/2008 GovernmentThe Student Body Government held its first meeting right after the May 07 final exams. During the meeting, the three officers (as defined in the constitution) were elected and a new position was introduced:
Vice-President: Hussein Jichi, Treasurer: Talha Mirza, Secretary: Talal Awar and PR officer (newly identified position): Lamma Najjar.

New Government Elected to ServeDuring the last week of the Spring 2007 semester, the Department of Student Affairs held the yearly elections for the SBG. Around 76% of TAMUQ students contributed in the elections.

Constitutional Amendment The first constitutional amendment was introduced and voted for during the spring of 07. The amendment now allows 2nd year senior students to participate in the SBG and have their voices heard.

Virginia Tech Support In support of the events that occured at Virginia Tech, the SBG, on behalf of TAMUQ students, sent its condolences to the VTech community.
